Winner of the Royal Philarmonic Award for Best Chamber Ensemble. “The Endellions is arguably the finest quartet in Britain”, New Grobe Dictionary of Music and Musicians (2000). Formed in 1979 with no change of personel since 1986, the Endellin String Quartet is renowned as one of the finest quartets in the world. Their schedule includes egular tours in North America and many European countries. In Britain, the Endelion Quartet has apperared at nearly all the major series and festivals and is regularly broadcast on BBC Radio and TV. The Quartet has worked with guest artists including members of the former Amadeus Quartet, Steeven Isserlis, Joshua Bell, Mitsuko Uchida, Thomas Allen and Tabea Zimmerman. Their recording for EMI of the complete string camber music of Britten was selected as Chamber Music Recording of the Year by both the Daily Telegraph and The Guardian. They have also recorded Mozart, Bartók, Dvořák, Smetana and Walton string quartets.
