He started his studies of composition with Miquel Roger and Albert Sardà, studying later with Josep Soler. He also worked in Italy with Franco Donatoni  (Accademia Chigiana), in France with Luigi Nono (Festival d’Avignon)  and later he became doctor in composition at the Eastman School of Music of the Rochester University (New York) with Samuel Adler. He has also worked with composers such as Joan Guinjoan, Tomás Marco, Cristobal Halffter, A. Garcia Abril, etc. He has won several awards for his compositions getting the most important national and international awards such as Reina Sofía, Oscar Esplá, Spectori Sonori, Joaquín Turina, Ciutat de Tarragona. He has composed for different institutions and for the best Spanish performers and his music has been performed all over the world. He is now Professor at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) and at the Zaragoza Conservatoire of Music.
