Born in Lleida in 1960 he begun his activity as a soloist in the Teatro Real de Madrid as a winner of the Joventuts Musicals d'Espanya competition. He won the Tarrega Price at the Internacional Competition Francesc Tàrrega de Benicàssim, the especial jury price at the La Havana Internacional Competition, and the first price at the Fith Toronto International Competition among others. Carles Trepat has made concerts and recitals in Spain, France, Russia, Austria, England, Chile, Australia, Canada, etc. He has performed in Wigmore Hall and Queen Elisabeth Hall in London, Palau de la Música Catalana de Barcelona, Varsòvia Philharmonia ,Teatro de la Maestranza de Sevilla, Sant Petersburg’s Glinka Hall and Txaikovski Conservatoire in Moscow. He participated in the Festival de Música i Dansa de Granada, Shell Darwin Guitar Festival, Festival de Radio-France Montpellier and Ibercamera and Euroconcert concerts in Barcelona.
